We use rdesktop with seamlessrdp, but currently there are several glitches that, while relatively minor, cause a lot of irritation for users. For instance depending on the window manager, windows may not minimize and maximize correctly, cannot be dragged beyond the screen edge, or occasionally occlude oneanother incorrectly. Is anyone currently developing seamlessrdp? Is there a repository where the latest source code is kept? We might have some developer time available to work on seamlessrdp but it would be helpful if someone who knows how it works could help us out. Is there anyone here who knows anything about seamlessrdp? Incidentally, I have no input in rdesktop development, but in general terms I support the recent suggestion of moving rdesktop to subversion--having used subversion extensively I can confirm it is a significant improvement over CVS and is very easy to use (easier than CVS). -- Mario Becroft <mb...@ge...> |

Hi, see comments below. > We use rdesktop with seamlessrdp, but currently there are several > glitches that, while relatively minor, cause a lot of irritation for > users. We cannot do much about the window manager bugs; not more than report bugs and things like that. But of course there are bugs in SeamlessRDP as well. > Is anyone currently developing seamlessrdp? At this point, I'm not aware of any active development. Cendio is doing bug fixes from time to time, but this is mainly to solve customer problems in ThinLinc environments. We hope that we can add support for 64 bit Windows in a near future. > Is there a repository where the latest source code is kept? Yes, both rdesktop and the SeamlessRDP server component is in CVS. Hi, We here are trying also to have a usefull rdesktop setup with seamlessrdp integration. We are using the svn version of rdesktop with the fontis patch to suport several windows. Our tests are made using 64bit rdesktop client machines and we have faced problems with segfaults. This has to do with ewmh_set_icon function of ewmhints.c file. It seems (at list in 64bits) that whenever the icon info is not found in the properties structure then there is no memory allocation for it and segfault happens. If this is a 64bits issue then I would like to contribute to solve this if someone can point out what to fix. Any help on this would be appreciated. Support for 64 bit on the rdesktop side is quite different from support for 64 bit Windows. While we plan to look at the Windows side in a near future, we have no immediate plans to work on rdesktop in 64 bit environments. But of course, contributed debugging and patches are always appreciated. As pointed out by Maro Becroft, there is a patch that solves this problem that is due to non proper data type used for 64bit arch. The patch is made by an anonymous Jim and has id number 1970489 at the patch tracker. After testing it seem that this solves this problem in 64bits. I will follow up checking different behaviour of rdesktop between 64 and 32 bits. We are aware of this bug but our current version of rdesktop does not have the problem. I'll try to find out whether we have a patch for this. As a very short-term workaround, you could simply disable the entire ewmh_set_icon() function by inserting a "return" at the top, since it is non-essential. -- Mario Becroft <mb...@ge...> |
