It looks like I found a reproducible sequence.
0. I am in KDE desktop.
1. Start rdesktop.
2. Start some application under which you would be able to open a child
window. It works with Konqueror browser, for example. Let us use
Konqueror browser below.
3. Make sure to place Konqueror browser window in such a way that it
would partially cover redesktop window.
4. Open a child window under Konqueror browser. I used
5. Place the child window in such a way that it would partially cover
both parent Konqueror window and rdesktop.
6. Now minimization of child window gives you a problem.
Please, let me know if this works for you.
I think the problem comes from activation algorithm of rdesktop window.
Since rdesktop window is covered partially with the child window, some
signal is sent to redesktop window when the child widow is minimized.=20
This signal causes rdesktop to activate, but system is trying to
activate the parent window after minimization of a child and some
infinite loop starts within rdesktop.

It did not happen to me these days, although I did not use rdesktop
I will keep watching it. I will let you know if I find a reproducible
way to make it happen.

I've seen this on my machine as well. I'm running GNOME 1.4 and Sawfish.
For me, this strange problems occurs when I'm changing virtual desktop.=20
But it doesn't happen every time, so I'm not sure of what is causing=20
this. Usually the blinking stops after a few seconds. Sometimes I have=20
to kill rdesktop or sawfish. Please tell me if you find a way to trigger
