New source archive

Again a new upload of a source archive.
This one adds support for the Treo 600 navigator. Plus several other enhancements.

I would again like to encourage everybody to set a notification monitor on the "razor-unstable" package. That way you will be kept up-to-date with new releases.

New source archive and changes to packages

Hi everybody,

I have split the file distributions into stable and unstable releases. Make sure you monitor the new "razor-unstable" package if you want to remain on the bleeding edge. I have uploaded a new unstable release today, and made 0.92 the latest stable release. The main new feature of the unstable release is 16 bit support with RGB colors and transparency for OS5 devices.
I have also removed the pilrc-cygwin package. The pilrc project that is also hosted on SourceForge is now releasing binaries for all platforms, and they are newer than mine.... read more

New source archive uploaded

Hi,

I have uploaded a source archive. This is a precursor of 0.93 and is mostly meant for folks who cannot trace my changes in the CVS b/c of problems with their CVS client.

Mailing list removed

Hi,

due to the fact that all discussions are happening in the forum, and the mailing-list has been a regular target of spammers, I have decided to remove the mailing-list. Just use the forum, like you have done anyways.

Cheers,

Is yours crashing with CW8/CW9?

Hello!
Some users have reported that their compiled executables of SimpleDemo from Razor! 0.9, which they built with CW8 or CW9 are crashing upon leaving the Flying Chicken Screen. If yours is crashing too, could you please submit some debugging information from the CodeWarrior Debugger? If yours is not crashing, could you submit the way how you setup your project file for CW8 or CW9? Short instructions and/or screenshots of the preference panels sent to tilo.christ@online.de will be greatly appreciated.... read more

Current PilRC binary put up for download

Hello!
Since Razor! requires a recent version of PilRC and it is hard to find a binary of these versions, I put a suitable binary version for Cygwin/PRC-Tools into my downloads section.

Tilo

10,000 Pageviews

Hi!
I just looked at the statistics, and since the pageviews counter was exactly 10,000 I decided to create a news item. Hoorraaay!!!

Next version in CVS

Hi!
I committed what will become version 0.8.8 to the CVS repository. It contains some refactorings and is now licensed under the MIT license.
There are some refactorings in the Canvas, and some important bug fixes wrt OS5 ARM devices.

Thanks for OS5 help :-)

Hi!
Three kind folks chipped in to help me out with my strange OS5 problem. Peter Herbert finally figured out it was an alignment problem with the real ARM hardware, that cannot be reproduced with Intel based simulation.
Thanks Peter, Collin and Giulio!

Need help with OS5 devices

Hi!
I urgently need debugging help with Razor! on a TRUE OS5 device (Tungsten, NX70V, not the simulator). It runs fine on the simulator, but crashes the real devices. Any help in pinpointing the cause of this problem will be GREATLY appreciated!!!

License change

The next version of Razor! will be released under the MIT license (essentially the BSD license). I was tired of all the questions I received with regards to the commercial usage of an LGPL licensed C++ class library that cannot be dynamically relinked by the end-user (section 6 of the LGPL).
Go to http://www.opensource.org to review the future licensing terms.

0.8.5 released!

Hi!

I just released version 0.8.5. The most important feature is working hires support for Clie and OS5. That means you can use the same application on all devices, from the Palm III up to the latest Tungsten T.
It will display in lo-res on the older devices and in shining hi-res on the latest ones :-)

Enjoy,
Tilo

Full Hi-Res support is there!

I haven't tested this for backwards compatibility with older devices yet, so this is not an official release, but the latest version in the CVS will now give you full hi-res support!!!
This includes support for 320x320 with a 320x320 coordinate system, or 320x320 with a 160x160 coordinate system (as well as 160x160 with 160x160 coord system, of course).
This works on OS5 and the OS4 Clies. Razor! lets you use your hires bitmap resources on both platforms, even though Sony and OS5 would normally expect different formats. It also emulates the 320x320 w/ 160x160 coords on the Sony, which does not support this through its OS. Provided you generate the proper hires and lo-res resources, you should be able to run the same game code on the entire range of Palm devices (OS3.0+), the Sony Clie, and the upcoming OS5 devices.... read more

Get a glimpse of Hi-Res!

Hi!

For the adventurous among the Razor! developers: The CVS repository now contains a preview release for hires support on OS5. Hires support is currently broken on the Clie.
This release is only for experienced users with a full set of tools (SDK 5.0 for prc-tools, properly converted CLIE SDK 3.0, Prc-Tools 2.2).

Cheers,
Tilo

Major Release: 0.8

I just posted the download for Razor! 0.8.
This version is a major speed improvement and bugfix release.
It will also be a pleasure to all users of PRC-Tools. Loads of new inline assembly code, a better Makefile, and initial multi-segment support for this platform finally make PRC-Tools equally well supported as Code Warrior.
I would especially like to thank Marcell Tth who pointed out lots of bugs and inconsistencies during the development of his upcoming game.
Enjoy,
Tilo
