Patch for 8 y axes on a QwtPlot

I'm extremely interested in this patch. Does it work with the current qwtplot release? Will it ever be included in the main development trunk?
I think multiple-axis plots are essential to many applications. I have many problems using qwtplot exactly because of the 2 y-axes limit, which prevents me from effectively compare the shape of many curves at the same time.
Plots "panels" are not as effective as multi-y plots for this task.
As the 2-y ax limit is blocking my work, I am also considering to normalize all the curves, then draw additional axes out of the widget. But this would be slower, very complex and not as accurate as native multi-y graph.
This patch doesn't make sense anymore - beside you have to stay with an outdated Qwt version. Instead a maintained branch is available from https://sourceforge.net/p/qwt/code/HEAD/tree/branches that is planned to be released as Qwt 6.3
