This would require implementing updatePaintNode for every widget. I know it is a lot of work but it would bring Qwt into a new level. Is QML support considered and evaluated as a new feature for Qwt?
I can imagine having an implementation of the control widgets as QML components. This is likely to happen.
API changes to be able to plot directly to the scene graph ( != QML API ) will probably subject of the release following the release introducing multi axes support.
But I don't have any plans to replace the QPainter based render engine - doing it in the declarative way is simply not powerful enough ( f.e no PDF backend ) and IMO not an effective way to deal with heavy plots.
