#32 Controlling the update of widget definition text

Sometimes I may open a csd file, play around with the widgets, then decide I want to leave things as they were, so I close the file without saving. It seems that even if I close without saving, the widget definition text has been modified. I think there should be a way -- short of making a backup copy of the csd file first -- to close a file with absolutely no changes.

This is due to the fact that the file is saved when it is run by default. You can disable this is the preferences, but then the file will only be saved when it is explicitly saved. IS this behavior enough?

I think the existing option would solve my issue - or even being more aware that "run" implies "save." What about the option "save widgets in csd file"? Are the widgets saved elsewhere? I disabled this option, saved a test file, and then re-opened. The widgets certainly weren't there, but are they anywhere? [btw, I figured out how to use the wiki!]

    Hi,

No, if you uncheck save widgets in csd, the widgets will not be saved anywhere. This is useful when you need "pure" Csound csds, for example for manual examples.

    I've marked this as closed.

    Cheers,
    Andrés
