I have just tried to use the ThreadedSocketInitiator constructor without a log factory, but that leads to an access violation.

Are you sure bug 2690111 was fully fixed and ported to version 13.3?

    Looks like I missed a spot. Try the latest SessionState.h from subversion. That should fix it.
