Also on Windows everything looks fine. Opening the .exr and the .hdr file shows the same result. I'm currently using OpenEXR from the latest cvs repository which shows 1.7.1.
Btw. it seems that openexr finally switched to a git repo.

Tried with both OpenEXR 1.6.1 and OpenEXR 1.7.0, no problems here. I loaded the .exr and the .hdr, they look the same.
