Reloading of the taskBar applets is caused by /opt/QtPalmtop/bin/qcop QPE/TaskBar "reloadApplets()" (included in the post install script) > Is there a log file for this sort of thing (syslog?) or is there a way > to manually run the program from command line. > I do have a few opie applications running, but I fear this will possibly > need recompiling to work with the sharp rom, or maybe I am just missing > a couple of lib files. You can enable the logging into /var/log/messages by ?? (I saw it somewhere in the opie documentation...). You can copy the *.so.1.0.0 into /opt/QtPalmtop/plugins/applets and create the links to *.so.1.0, *.so.1 *.so (* = libttsapplet). Then create the directory /opt/QtPalmtop/pics/tts which contains ttson.png and ttsoff.png. After reloading the applets, the Tts should appear in your launcher resp. in the config tool for the taskbar. Then the icon with the "enable", "disable" / "Paste" menu should appear. After marking any text (in the terminal...) and selecting "Paste", there was some output at the headphones (the quality of the voice is ok, but there are better ones....) After that, I installed the package of the tts example. But it needed a reboot (sw reset) before the exampleTts was working (via the qcop channel). > In theory, most of the cf gps card communicate through a serial > interface anyway, so it may be possible to connect one via a serial > cable. Harddisks over USB...). => you are right: this might be possible but not easy. The same custom cables (null modem/gender changers/ Z connection) are needed for my connection between the Z and the Garmin eTrex... . Ralf |
