Yes. I feel this is a problem with the kernel development model :(
There really should be a stable version, you can't expect that _all_
drivers are in kernel.

Maybe it's just paranoia, but I'm a bit suspicious about this, how
someone who doesn't know anything about the driver can fix things?
But yeah, maybe it would work. At least better than nothing
as it nowadays tends to be with my limited time :(

Yes, and Debian, at least in source package.

Also let's not forget all those people who worked on the driver before me.
