Hi list,

I've reached an impasse with TeX, and I'm unfamiliar enough with the program to ask about it here.

I'm attempting to use postscript fonts in a PyX script I'm writing - it's a cgi script, called via a web request. The image output is a cartoon with user-defined runs of text, so I need to use decorative fonts. I'm seeing a variety of TeX-related errors, from an inability to find a file called "psfonts.map" to strange timeouts that appear as though a TeX service is being waited upon for 60 seconds before timing out. Is there a HOWTO on adding Type 1 fonts to TeX and using them with PyX? Perhaps there is an easier way to generate text in PyX that doesn't rely on TeX and uses pure Postscript instead?

Thanks in advance, great software.
