I've the same issue as "Avoid using the DTR signal - ID: 3149232". cliechti wrote that hw flow control should be turn off. I suppose that if I use
rtscts=False and dstdtr=False that it's means hw flow control turn off, is it right? What is wrong, because DTR still flip-flop when data transmitted.
code:
ser = serial.Serial(/dev/ttyUSB0, 19200, xonxoff=False, rtscts=False, writeTimeout=None, dsrdtr=False, interCharTimeout=None)
ser.write("hello world\n")
system: ubuntu 10.4

    the control lines will still toggle on port open/close, this is independently from the flow control settings.

    it it that what you see? maybe experiment with a delay before (time.sleep) and after sending data to confirm this.
