No

I've seen some recent examples of this, so I suppose this is an issue you have on your backlog, but when people add new packages, and then change the capitalization of their name, a redirect loop occurs.

In my case, I just added a package called "Steinn", then renamed it to "steinn". Now I have a redirect loop thus: (for example the /simple/<package_name> path)

https://pypi.python.org/simple/Steinn -> https://pypi.python.org/simple/Steinn/ ->
https://pypi.python.org/simple/steinn -> https://pypi.python.org/simple/steinn/ ->
https://pypi.python.org/simple/Steinn -> https://pypi.python.org/simple/Steinn/ ->
...

Any chance of fixing this redirect loop? :)

Discussion

  • Oh, yeah, and the pip response to installing is:

    $ pip install steinn
    Downloading/unpacking steinn
    Real name of requirement steinn is steinn
    Could not find any downloads that satisfy the requirement steinn
    No distributions at all found for steinn
    Storing complete log in /home/tomage/.pip/pip.log

    Note: "Real name of requirement steinn is steinn".

    This is, unfortunately, a bug in the front end caching and is temporary after a package is re-capitalized. It should be resolved now.
