Hi, I (sorin) am the current maintainer or jira-python package and I was able to get approaval/ownership for the "jira" namespace which orginally was used by another package that "died".

So now I do manage both pypi packages ( jira and jira-python) and I relesed the same package in both of them.

Now, I would like to get rid of "jira-python" one, but the problem is that there are users that do still have it or documentation that specifies the installation using this name.

Both methods are working now, which is good, but is it possible to make "jira-python" and alias to "jira" so we can nicely deprecate the wrong name, without annoying users?

Please let me know if this is possible, thank you.

sorry for the wrong title: the rename is obviously from "python-jira" to "jira", not python :)

    SF tracker sucks, big time.

    Sorry for the slow response.

I have no facility for "aliasing" a package name. I recommend that you start releasing and promoting your package under the new name while also releasing it under the old name with a separate setup.py (call it "old_setup.py" or similar) which has a description pointing users to the new name.

I'm going to close this issue, since I don't believe I can take any action on it in a manner that would be useful to you.
