I can't upload a binary distribution on windows 7.

python setup.py build --plat-name=win32 bdist_wininst upload

builds fine, but then I get

Upload failed (401): You must be identified to edit package information

without any prompt about entering my information

I made a .pypirc files in %HOMEPATH%, but left the password blank because I don't want to store a clear text password. I received a message about an incorrect password instead of a prompt. I tried removing the password line and received a message about not having a password line. I uploaded an ssh key and loaded the key using putty/pageant, authentication still fails. Any ideas?

  • That's not a PyPI bug, but a bug of whatever implements the upload command (probably distutils). Please report it there.
