'Operating System :: BeOS' isn't useful for describing Haiku supporting applications seeing as how Haiku has many new features and applications not present in BeOS. Also another GSOC student is working on a Haiku Python API, so we may see more Haiku centric/supporting python code soon.

Some info on Haiku:

Thanks PyPi overlords!

Discussion

  • So what specific packages currently already uploaded to PyPI would classify under this classifier?

My own at this point apparently, I didn't realize how little the BeOS tag is used (wow). http://pypi.python.org/pypi/hitman/1.0.1dev

It will probably increase though with the availability of the Haiku API in python on that platform. It would make sense if you want to wait for some more Haiku-centric python packages to crop up, but I think its likely to not come to PyPi if theres no way of finding it.

  • I question your claim that the BeOS classifier is inappropriate for the packages. So I prefer to defer this issue until there are at least two packages that cannot be classified as BeOS but would be classified as Haiku.

  • Closing this issue for now. If the interest in Haiku increases in a few years, we can reconsider.
