Hi all,

I was working with Pymol several years and the
performance was pretty good - I use Pentium-4 1.8 GHz
1Gb RAM Linux RedHat KDE. Usually there was no problems
on Maximum quality option. Suddenly - about a week ago
everything became horribly slow. Even with Maximum
performance option. Especially when the sequence is
displayed. Even with small proteins ~100 residues. Not
to mention several structures.

I didn't change anything on the computer!

And yesterday another problem - the PDB loader plugin
stopped working.

Any advices will be greatly appreciated!

Alex

It sounds like your graphics driver has gotten screwed up
    somehow...have you tried rebooting?

Yes I did. I talked to some folks around and I think I got
the reason - quite possibly our IT support changed the
python libraries recently. But this rises a serious question
    - is Pymol so dependent on the Python librariy version?
Still need to check it with our help desk.

Python libraries are unlikely to generate symptoms like
what you described. Instead, it sounds like you X11
configuration has been reset to MESA.

You are right! It was NVidia problem. IT guys screwed it up
doing an upgrade. I asked them to reinstall it and now
    everything works just fine.

    Thanks!
