Hi,

One questions about the PyMOL license:

I can see that Quantum Pharmaceuticals seems to be
using PyMOL as GUI for their drug discovery software:
(see e.g.
http://www.q-pharm.com/home/manual/Getting%20Started.htm\).

This made me wonder:
- Is it legal to modify PyMOL and use it in a
commercial program?
- Should the Source Code be made publicly available?
- Or does it require a special (non-free) license?

Such usage is absolutely permitted under the PyMOL license,
and Quantum Pharmaceuticals has no obligation to release
    their derivative source.

However, companies like Q.P. that develop commercial
products based on PyMOL without sponsoring the effort are
taking a big risk because PyMOL developers then have no
incentive to ensure that the software remains suitable for
the business' purpose. In contrast, they have a strong
incentive in looking out for the interest of PyMOL sponsors
when making changes or improvements to the package.
