I would vote for SVG and PDF. SVG because, as noted below it's an open
format. PDF because non-specialists *always* have a PDF reader of some
sort and quickly sharing images is often important (I'm a lone modeller
supporting a number of larger groups).

But for image sharing, they will surely be able to read the "normal" png files on any system, even without a PDF reader, right? (or am I mistaken).
