I tried to set various eclipse variables like ${workspace_loc} to be part of the interpreters environment in the PyDev -> Interpreter - Python -> Environment panel, but these are not expanded. The added variables are part of the python environment, but they are not expanded, i.e. their value is '${workspace_loc}' as string. I would like to have these variables expanded so I can configure the interactive editor to always switch the current working directory to that of the active project.

I am using PyDev 2.3.0.2011121518 in Eclipse 3.7.1 on Mac OS X Lion with Python 2.7.1.
