In a *nix system so many files now drop the .py suffix and use:

#!/usr/bin/python
#!/bin/env python

The guys using emacs and vi flavors are fine with that. The Eclipse editor window however becomes jot under these circumstances. This is a major problem for pydev users.

    Yep. pydev does not work AT ALL for most of the executables in our repo. New features are worthless if the base functionality is missing...

    Just fixed (for 2.2.2). Please test in the current nightly build for your use-cases (see: http://pydev.org/download.html ).

    The only thing is that if you create a file without an extension and write it, if you add the shebang, you'll have to close and open it again to get the editor as a python editor (couldn't find a way to override that without changing eclipse itself).
