Just as an FYI, I'm also going to fade off the face of the earth until like Monday or so. I'm going to post a blurb to the PyBlosxom site in regards to the CVS snapshot I have in my directory (I'll build a new one for today) for people to use if they're interested in helping to test and such. In regards to the plugin registry, I'm not sure how to handle this quite yet. I'm working on an administrative interface for it, but it's not going to be ready any time soon. There are a bunch of things that need to be fixed: 1. All the plugins that come in the contrib section of the PyBlosxom installation should be marked as such so that people know they already have the plugin and just have to move it from one directory to another. 2. The URLs for plugins in contrib definitely shouldn't point to what's in CVS. I would vote we either take all the contrib stuff and dump it in a directory on the web-site or we just mention that it comes with PyBlosxom. I think the latter is the better idea. 3. I don't think we've had any new plugin submissions in a long while, but people are definitely building plugins. So I'm not sure why they're not submitting them to the registry. That needs to get fixed. 4. We need to develop a list of standards plugins must meet to be added to the registry. Things like "they have to have instructions for installation at the top of the file, have to have license information, have to have __verions__, __author__, and ... listed...". I'll probably take a first stab at this. It'll likely include the verify_installation() stuff I just did as well. Then we need to make sure we've done this for all the plugins in contrib. Um... I think that's all I can think of. The first two I can't do unless I get access to the registry data or I finish the administration interface for the registry and Wari installs it. The third probably involves a "so... why aren't you submitting plugins to the registry?" email to the pyblosxom-devel and pyblosxom-users list (and it's possible people will respond with "because the regsitry sucks!" or "because the registry is broken!" in which case I should address those problems). The fourth I'll take and try to get done over the next couple of days. Anyhow, that's everything I can think of. Rock on! /will -- whatever it is, you can find it at http://www.bluesock.org/~willg/ except Will--you can only see him in real life. |
