Distro:  Fedora Core release 4
Kernel:  2.6.8-022stab067.1-enterprise
ProFTP: 1.3.0 - compiled myself

I have had success in the past with large file, but, I think it may have been with an older version of ProFTP installed with the OS.  I am confident the OS supports large files.  From what I can see in the configure file, large file support is compiled in by default.  There is a flag to disable large file support.

Occasionally I have some downloads that never end.  Unusually very big

Have you ever had a "large file" succeed?  "Large file" here means one that is 2GB or larger, 2147483648 bytes or more.

If not, one or both of your OS and ProFTPd aren't built to support files of size 2GB or larger.  It is an old legacy pain-in-the-filesystem problem.

What OS/version/kind are you using?  I mean (cough) I see Linux in the sig below, but more specific?  Can you check whether it supports large files?  Then can you check whether it looks like ProFTPd was built to support it?  (Too long since for me to remember how from memory)

This is what I am seeing in the proftp.log file:

proftpd.log:Jun 25 13:51:45 vps.flipsideservices.com proftpd[22045]
flipsideservices.com (67.170.174.91[67.170.174.91]): transmit_sendfile()
error, reverting to normal data transmission: [75] Value too large for
defined data type

Help?!?!?
