The development team for the Software Process Dashboard Initiative is pleased to announce the availability of version 1.6 of the Process Dashboard! Version 1.6 includes these significant new features:

* The earned value tool in the dashboard can now calculate estimated prediction intervals for forecast completion date and forecast cost. These intervals compare your planned progress to your actual progress using numerical methods and approximate pivotal statistics, computing a range of dates within which your project is likely to finish. Status Update #2

Today I spoke with Watts' publisher about the dashboard; a resolution seems nearly certain.

Although I had interpreted the permission statement in the front of the PSP(SM) book as explicitly granting broad permission to copy, modify, and electronically distribute the scripts and forms in Appendix C, that was not Watts' original intent. Watts has said he will allow these materials to be distributed as part of the dashboard, but only after written permission is obtained.... read more

Status Update

Watts has stated that he has copyright-related concerns with the dashboard. He has referred me to his publisher, who has expressed confidence that we can find a workable solution.

I still do not know what specific issues are concerning Watts, but I hope to learn more when I talk with his publisher (who is unfortunately not available until March 6). I have always had a great deal of respect for Watts, so I am doing my best to comply fully with his requests.... read more
