CVS-1.81; compiling for XEmacs

This may be premature, but I tried to install from cvs with XEmacs.
It would not compile preview.el reporting an error of nil being passed
to stringp.

This came from calls to make-glyph for files such as help.xpm and
search.xpm which were not being found.  The best solution is probably
to include the few special images preview-latex will use.

After substituting other files for these in my XEmacs load path, it
did compile, except for the documentation which generates lots of
error messages such as

with texinfo 4.0.  I don't know the cause of that.  Presumably the
building of documentation should not depend on whether I have Emacs or
XEmacs.
