Basic question, sorry, but how do I start and join a multiplayer game? I am using Mac OS 10.4.8, friends are using Windows. We both have a Doom splash screen with no Multiplayer item on the menu. I know we have to somehow enter a command...

    • Yes, you need to start a simple server, though it's not that easy on Mac or Windows. For some general online Doom info see this:
      http://www.doom2.net/doom2/online.html

It's likely that it's easier to setup on the Mac:

      - Start the Terminal
      - Enter the following: /Applications/PrBoom.app/Contents/MacOS/Server
      - After that string add a space and any options (see prboom-game-server.html in a Windows zip file for PrBoom)

Now that I looked at it, I see that the docs in the MacOSX DMG file are in a bad format for normal users. This will be fixed in the next release.

That's very helpful, thank you. I can make out the commands in my doc file so I should be able to do this. The only remaining issue: How do my Windows user friends join my server?

        Thanks again,
        Evan
