PostfixAdmin 2.91 (3.0 beta1) released - and PostfixAdmin @LinuxTag

  • After several delays, I'm happy to announce that David and I just released PostfixAdmin 2.91 aka 3.0 beta1. It contains all the improvements from the last years that were too big to make it into the 2.3.x series.

I'm also happy to announce that I'll present PostfixAdmin at LinuxTag this week - meet me at the booth (Hall 6, D11, together with openSUSE, KDE and ownCloud) or listen to the PostfixAdmin 3.0 talk on Thursday evening.

That all said, here's a list of the most important changes since 2.3.7:

    • new command-line interface "postfixadmin-cli"
    • major rewrite:
      - move lots of code into Handler classes, which are used by web and command-line interface
      - replace various edit-
.php and create-*.php with a generic editform (edit.php/editform.tpl)
      - this also means it's easy to customize forms, add fields etc. (see $CONF['*_struct_hook'])
      - lots of code cleanup, remove/merge lots of duplicated code and templates
      - use smarty for templates
    • add ability to choose activation date, end date and reply interval for vacation message
    • various enhancements everywhere
    • redesign login page, list and edit pages (goodbye, green!) and make them wider
    • several new config options and changed defaults
    • NOTE: changes from the 2.3.x releases also apply to this version

See CHANGELOG.TXT for the detailed changelog.

Congrats Christian! I'm really looking forward to this new major release...

Question: would you consider this beta reasonably stable? Ie, would you recommend it even for stable/production systems?

    Thanks

  • Yes, I consider it stable and have it in production use already (well, in a modified version with some different *Handler classes to manage registrations for an event ;-)
