Setup, Configuration and Operation

Class Training - xTuple: Setup, Configuration and Operation (5-day Training Class)

Classroom Training xTuple For years, we referred to this class as an "introduction" to xTuple ERP, but we've consistently heard from customers - and partners alike - that it's MUCH more than that. Implementing an ERP system is a major undertaking, and this class pays for itself even if you gain only a single insight over the course of the week.

PostBooks® accounting and ERP suite coming to Fedora

PostBooks has been successful on Debian and Ubuntu for a while now and for all those who asked, it is finally coming to Fedora.

The review request has just been submitted and the spec files have also been submitted to xTuple as pull requests so future upstream releases can be used with rpmbuild to create packages.

Can you help?

A few small things outstanding:

  • Putting a launcher icon in the GNOME menus
  • Packaging the schemas - they are in separate packages on Debian/Ubuntu. Download them here and load the one you want into your PostgreSQL instance using the instructions from the Debian package.

Community support

The xTuple forum is a great place to ask any questions and get to know the community.

Here is a quick look at the login screen on a Fedora 19 host:

How to share your xTuple ERP expertise on your LinkedIn profile

Why is LinkedIn® essential to your career success?

Statistics don't lie: 98% of recruiters and 85% of hiring managers use LinkedIn® to find and vet candidates (according to researcher Viveka von Rosen, author of LinkedIn Marketing: An Hour a Day and founder of LinkedIntoBusiness.com). And according to the Pew Research Center, LinkedIn® usage is highest among the educated and high earners. Those with more professional experience - and those hiring - are on LinkedIn®; it's also the only social networking website with higher measured usage among 50-64 year olds than those aged 18-29. Professionals at every career level use it for networking, staying in touch with current and former co-workers, and engaging within their industry whether promoting their business or recruiting.

How to make your LinkedIn® profile stand out above all the rest? Need a few tips to showcase your xTuple ERP expertise?

In general, improve your findability with pertinent keywords, especially to showcase everything that doesn't fit on your one-sheet resume, and use a visually appealing headshot and cover photo. Once you're ready, strategically connect with others and stay active and up-to-date. Your professional online resume - and LinkedIn® is the perfect medium - is how you can maintain an authoritative perception within your industry.

All of the to-dos below start with moving your cursor over Profile at the top of your LinkedIn® homepage, then select Edit Profile.

Add xTuple ERP Certification

1. If you've previously added a certificate, scroll down to the Certifications section and click +Add.

2. If you've never added a certification, you'll first want to add a Certifications section. Under your profile summary at the top, you'll see 2 sections that you can add to your profile. If you don't see Add Certifications here, click View More to see a full list of sections you can add.

3. Type in your certification information as follows:

a. Certification Name: xTuple ERP.

b. Certification Authority: xTuple (as you type in xTuple, please select the xTuple Company Page to add linkage).

c. License Number: SKIP, does not apply.

d. Certification URL: http://xTupleUniversity.com.

e. Dates: Use date of your first training or your first use of xTuple and check the box "This certification never expires."

4. Click Save.

Add your xTuple ERP skills

1. Move your cursor over the Skills & Endorsements section and click the + Add skill button in the top right.

2. Select Yes next to I want to be endorsed so others will be able to endorse you and select which communication settings you'd like.

3. Type xTuple ERP in the text box and choose it from the dropdown list that appears. If your skill doesn't appear (and it probably won't for a while until we reach a critical mass of endorsements, completely type in the skill name in the field.

4. Click Add.

5. Click Save.

Reorder your skills (as well as any section on your profile)

1. Scroll down to the Skills & Endorsements section and click anywhere in the box.

2. Move your cursor over the skill you’d like to move, then click and drag to re-order. You can do this for each skill you’d like to reorder.

3. Click Save.

4. To remove skills in your Skills & Endorsements section:

a. Scroll down to the Skills & Endorsements section and click the skill you'd like to remove.

b. Click the X next to the skill to remove it.

c. Click Save.

Note: You can add up to 50 skills to your profile. Skills with the most endorsements will be listed first. Skills without endorsements are displayed according to when they were added. There's no way to make a skill without an endorsement appear higher than skills with endorsements.

Could you please take a moment and endorse me on LinkedIn® for skill "xTuple ERP" at https://www.linkedin.com/in/missyschmidt? I am happy to do the same for you!

How do you pronounce "xTuple" anyway?

One of the very fortunate parts of my job as head of sales is that I get to travel all over visiting with the xTuple community and prospective xTuplers. I am just back from a whirlwind road trip, on the heels of several road tips. I was up and down the East Coast from Norfolk, VA to Toronto, ONT to Atlanta, GA. As you might imagine, I have enjoyed a healthy variety of accents. Either up in the great North or in the warm and sunny South, I look forward to great anticipation how the people I work with, and the people I meet, pronounce "xTuple."... read more

Version 3.2.1 released - xTuple ERP (PostBooks)

Hello,

xTuple ERP version 3.2.1 is now available for download! You can find the free PostBooks Edition here at Sourceforge, or if you're a commercial customer using the Standard or Manufacturing Editions, you can download those files from xtuple.org.

This is primarily a bug fix release but does contain several new features designed to support custom screen and package development.

We're well underway with planning for version 3.3, which will include enhancements to the taxation engine, Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP), and a number of usability improvements in Sales, CRM, and Accounting. We'll also be continuing our architectural work that provides for easier loading and unloading of Packages, and faciliates the development of web interfaces.
