To get commit notifications sent to a mailing list, you need to:
(1) create the mailing list, and
(2) add a hook to SVN

To create a mailing list:
1. Select "Lists/Forums" from the "Admin" menu in !PortMedia project area on sourceforge sfter you have logged into your sourceforge account.
2. Click on the "Manage Mailing Lists" link.
3. Clicked on "Add Mailing List".
4. Made the mailing list name portmedia-updates@lists.sourceforge.net. I only had to type the "updates" portion of the list name.
5. Left the public setting set to Yes.
6. Added the following description: "!PortMedia commit messages."
7. Clicked the "Add This List" button.
