PoolMan 2.0 brings tons of new parameters, full XML support, better customized pool generation, tweaks to the cache, a WAR db client, stronger docs, a JUnit test suite, and a new JMX management piece. Due to the rearchitecture this is a beta release, though it contains virtually the same core pooling algorithms PoolMan has used for the past couple of years. Feedback sought and deeply appreciated.
ClassCastExceptions begone! Numerous fixes to the ResultSet implementation, a new initialConnections property, a fix for Oracle batch-related invocations, and a few other miscellaneous fixes are rolled out in this maintenance release.
I no longer have time to maintain the PoolMan JDBC driver and resource pooling and caching utility, and am now seeking a qualified, comitted software engineer to assume control over its future. If interested, please send email to neville@codestudio.com with a brief summary of your qualifications.
The PoolMan (http://www.codestudio.com/PoolMan/download.shtml) Java object pooling and caching library now provides a full JDBC 2.0 Driver, complete with a DataSource implementation and improved an improved SQL Query/ResultSet caching mechanism. Currently in beta, this new version needs testing on a variety of platforms and databases using all manner of underlying drivers and JNDI service providers. Java database, servlet, and JSP developers willing to test and email results are greatly appreciated.
