I recently installed RedHat 7.2 and that killed printing. I can print to the printer using test_ppa. pnm2ppa says that it prints in the system log. But, when I look at my queue, it is waiting on mf_wrapper and stays there _forever_:
Printer: ralph-lp@ralph 'lp'
Queue: 1 printable job
Server: pid 26191 active
Unspooler: pid 26192 active
Status: processing 'dfA106ralph.henrys.domain', size 10215272, format 'l', IF filter 'mf_wrapper' at 21:21:58.184
Rank Owner/ID Class Job Files Size Time
1 hal5250@ralph+106 A 106 (STDIN) 10215272 21:17:48
Why is it using another filter when pnm2ppa says that it already ran? Or what the heck is it waiting on?
If anyone knows a simple solution, please let me know.
I ran rpm -Va > file.txt. Well, file.txt is over 300 KB, so I'm going to clean up my RPMs and see if that is the problem.
As I continue the conversation with myself, I hope that this saves someone time.
I cleaned up my RPMs to no avail. But heck, they were pretty screwed up.
I still do not know what the problem is. I replaced the entire /var/spool/lpd/lp directory from what was in RedHat 6.2. I also had to reload the rhs-printfilters RPM from the 6.2 distribution. Now, the print queue works just fine.
It seems like the printing system that comes with 7.2 does not work correctly, at least for the HP DJ 1000C ppa printer.
