Under Python 2.3b1, the calls to string.atoi in PmwPanedWidget.py
and not only unnecessary, they now cause an error:

File "/usr/local/lib/python2.3/site-packages/Pmw/Pmw_1_1/lib/
PmwBase.py", line 1735, in __call__
return apply(self.func, args)
File "/usr/local/lib/python2.3/site-packages/Pmw/Pmw_1_1/lib/
PmwPanedWidget.py", line 307, in _handleConfigure
self._getNaturalSizes()
File "/usr/local/lib/python2.3/site-packages/Pmw/Pmw_1_1/lib/
PmwPanedWidget.py", line 338, in _getNaturalSizes
bw = string.atoi(self.cget('hull_borderwidth'))
File "/usr/local/lib/python2.3/string.py", line 220, in atoi
return _int(s, base)
TypeError: int() can't convert non-string with explicit base

    Are there any plans to change string.atoi to int? We are
    running into problems with string.atoi blowing up in python
    2.3.4.

    string.atoi is deprecated as python version 2.0. int() is
    supposed to be used instead.
