Your program is really a good idea. Just tried it with FLStudio and a Minimoog-like Vsti, really cool. But the main problem is that it is difficult to get an accurate result. Sometime the algorithm catches some points in the background, sometime not, sometime my hand, sometime not. It is not really "musically" usable. We should have the possibility to define more parameters than only the treshold value (more parameters, possibility to chose another OpenCV algorithm,etc...) to improve the follow-up of the points .

Keep the good work guy !

    Hey Greg!
I'm in the middle of adding a feature to pmidic atm that will let you filter the image based on a certan colour. The effect is that, if your lightsource is say...blue, pmidic will only pick up all blue pixels from the image. This might make things better for you.

Another possibility is using the motion tracking features of OpenCV which I might explore in future.

What sort of things in the background do you find it picking up? I have noticed that sometimes it picks up points on my hand if it is reflecting the light. If you can tell me a little bit more about what you are using as a light source, what sort of environment you are using it in, etc. that would help me come up with a way to solve the issue (my email is benxtan [at] gmail [dot] com).
