In addition to Alan's reply, the need for array elements z[x][y] does
not
necessarily mean that you need data for every integral value of x and y,
as you
seem to imply.
plpoin3() expects individual points (x[i],y[i],z[i]) (i=0,...,N).
You may want to look at plcont() for filled contours for instance, which
takes
a matrix z[nx][ny].
