Over the last several days, I have done a huge amount of work on the
GCW driver. Please give it a try. You will notice:
1) The speed is *tremendously* improved, because all line/polygon drawing
is now done to a pixmap. Fonts, however, are TrueType and antialiased,
and all of the examples (including x08c) look great. Run using
'-drvopt pixmap=0' for fully antialiased lines and polygons, but
rendered at a slower speed.
2) The GCW/PlplotCanvas specialized API has been streamlined and improved.
Because it is different from before, be warned that code using the
specialized API will need upgrading if you install the upcoming PLplot
The GCW/PlplotCanvas API should be stabilizing, and will be fixed as of
the full 5.6.0 release. The API documentation should be ready for
the 5.5.3 release. Comments are welcome and appreciated.
