Hello, I believe that it would be convenient to allow a wider range of escape characters in plsesc(). I would like to write a wrapper for some of plplot's text handling capabilities. One part of this wrapper involves using functions like superscript(), subscript(), etc.. instead of #u, #d, etc.. so that the end user doesn't have to remember, or even be aware of, plplot's escape sequences. This is made challenging however by the fact that the user can easily put any of the currently available escape characters into their strings. For example, when you run onto the string "#dark" was that because the user entered "#dark", and now you need to change that to "##dark" so that it will be displayed properly, or because they entered 'subscript ("ark")', in which case you should not do anything? Is it reasonable to add a non-printable esc character such as <esc> itself? thanks, -Hazen |
