He does not need to get the libtool installation fixed anymore. Hell, Arjen, if that is the case, take the half hour to install your own version of autotools in /home. It really is a no-brainer, and I repeat the instructions here for any developer who wants to use our cvs version, but who is stuck with out-of-date or broken autotools. (1) Download the latest versions from http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/autoconf/ http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/automake, and http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/libtool. (Actually, instead of latest versions, you might want to choose the same versions as Debian testing which I _know_ work; autoconf-2.59, automake-1.8.5, and libtool-1.5.6) (2) Choose a configuration prefix, let's say that is /home/amarkus/autotools_install. Set your PATH so that /home/amarkus/autotools_install/bin is first in the colon separated list. (Do this before the autotools build). Then configure (with that prefix without the trailing /bin), make, and make install autoconf, then automake, and then finally libtool (in that order). They are actually quite small so the whole procedure is fast. (3) Use that same PATH for your PLplot build starting with a fresh checkout and cf/bootstrap.sh. > In sum: there is nothing, absolutely nothing introduced in > bootstrap.sh since June 2004 that can be the source of Arjen's problems. Good. Then from my extensive experience at this, a good autotools install as above combined with setting the PATH as above (not only for the autotools install, but also for PLplot) should solve the problem with no options required for cf/bootstrap.sh.
