I want to build PLplot on Windows using Visual C++ 2005, for use with wxWidgets.
I am following the instructions on PLplot wiki page 'Configure PLplot for Visual CXX' but get the following error:
C:\plplot-5.9.5\buildnmake>cmake -G "NMake Makefiles" -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=install ..
CMake Error: Could not create named generator
-- Check for working C compiler: gcc
-- Check for working C compiler: gcc -- broken
The C compiler "gcc" is not able to compile a simple test program.
It fails with the following output:
gmake: *** No rule to make target `/cygdrive/c/plplot-5.9.5/buildnmake/CMakeTmp/testCCompiler.c', needed by `testCCompi
I have confirmed that nmake is installed. I ran these commands from the Visual C++ command prompt.
I assumed that the Visual C++ compiler would be used and so was surprised to see gcc in the error message. Do I need to install MinGW?
