After finally encountering the problem myself, I found the bug that
has been breaking the build of the libplayerc python bindings. The
script that parses playerc.h was not properly handling proxy names
with underscores (e.g., speech_recognition). This caused SWIG to
generate invalid code, which led to some uninformative compiler errors.
I've fixed the script (libplayerc/bindings/python/parse.py), and
checked in the fix on HEAD and the 2.0.x branch.
