I've added support for Player/Stage log files to MapViewer
(http://mapviewer.skynet.ie), so now you can build maps from sonar
data using Player/Stage log files. You can also load a log file to
show the path that a robot took in a map.
To build a map from sonar data, there must of course be sonar data in

For those who didn't see my previous posts on MapViewer, it is a
application that I'm developing for the creation/manipulation of maps
for mobile robotics research. It can import/export/manipulate maps in
the formats of Saphira, Player/Stage, Rossum and Beesoft simulators.
MapViewer runs on Windows, but usually runs just fine using Wine on
MapViewer also has many more functions useful in this area, such as
being able to convert a bitmap image into vectors that can be
manipulated (useful for Saphira and Rossum users especially). It can
also be used in the analysis of maps through generating Voronoi
diagrams and applying numerous benchmark techniques, all of which is
detailed in the help files at http://mapviewer.skynet.ie . It'll
even build maps from sonar data if you want - similar to the pmap
module for Player/Stage, but for sonar, not laser.
It's free to download and use, so go ahead. Please let me know if
there are any bugs (always possible), and if there are any features
