Stage SVN trunk is now very usable, and in a feature freeze preparing
for the 3.0.0 release. Jeremy, Alex and I at SFU are now working API
cleanup, documentation and testing only.
Of course, I could use as much testing as possible, so it'd be great
if any of you interested parties could give Stage a go from trunk and
see if it works for you. The main new features are:
* very much faster raytracing than 2.X series
* 2.5D models
* 3D user interface
* plugin code modules attach at run time to any model. Useful for data
filtering or complete robot controllers without Player (examples
* camera model, with color and depth for each pixel
* first "official" release of the libstage API, being cleaned and
documented this week
plus lots of little things that'll be in the release notes.
Important things that will be missing from the 3.0.0 release in the
interests of getting the code out there sooner:
* gripper & puck
* wireless comms
* audio comms
After the release I'll start encouraging people to port these things to 3.0.0.
A priority right now is the Player plugin which is a little rusty and
could use testing.
