Hey, Currently none of the laser or ranger interfaces support laser or range data with non-constant resolution. I have the new sick LD MRS laser scanner (the scanner part of the new Ibeo LUX scanner) which has non constant resolution and so needs to publish both the angles and ranges. I've submitted a proposed patch that should allow for an array of angles as well as an array of ranges to be published. Are there any comments as to the implementation of this? The diff is attached. ~Chris |

After recently discovering some nasty flaws in the ranger interface (which is still relatively new and, as far as I can tell, only used by me), I'm planning on redesigning it for Player 2.2. I'm happy to incorporate any proposals people think are necessary, like this one. Possibly the pointcloud3d would be a more suitable interface for a device such as the lux? I looked at using the pointcloud interface but this really is more suited to laser as the pointcloud doesn't currently have any support for things like intensity and the semi3d nature of the lux can really be dealt with more easily by having the option of getting all or only one of the layers of laser data. Once I've done a bit more testing with the current driver I'll submit it, as I'm not sure if my current echo and layer filtering works correctly. ~Chris On Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 9:11 AM, Toby Collett <tco...@pl...<tcollett%2Bp...@pl...> > wrote: > Possibly the pointcloud3d would be a more suitable interface for a device > such as the lux? > > Toby > > 2008/8/20 gbiggs <gb...@ki...> > > After recently discovering some nasty flaws in the ranger interface >> (which is still relatively new and, as far as I can tell, only used by >> me), I'm planning on redesigning it for Player 2.2.
