Hi Brian!
i have tried Xawtv  but there is the same problem: i take only grey images if i connect vcc4 on s-video port  on host computer and so i need to connect camera on usb port on host computer using a s-video/usb converter to take color images ( I suspect there is a problem with ubuntu and s-video on my host )
But if i connect camera on usb port, playercam returns this error message:
> playerc error: request [1] access, but got [3] access"
 while player server returns:
> fg_open(): get framebuffer  failed; ignoring: Invalid argument
> fg_open(): get memory buffer: Invalid argument
> error: unable to open /dev/video1

this is a part of my config file:
driver
(
name "camerav4l"
provides ["camera:0"]
port "/dev/video1"
size [320 240]
norm "ntsc"
mode "RGB8888"
)

Is there a possibility to connect camera on usb port and take player work on it?

 Thanks in advance

Have you tried getting video from /dev/video1 using another
Video4Linux program (e.g., xawtv)?
