You should also be able to achieve this by setting the build profile to 'Debug' with ccmake.

The compiler may have optimized the code by removing or reordering it.
Try removing the -O2 flag from  the top level CMakeLists.txt and from
your CXXFLAGS environment variable, then rebuild Stage (make clean
install). Then try debugging again.
