It has been a while since I have used a Pioneer, but are you using the -c flag for playerjoy? this could help...

I just tried to get Player / p2os (2.1.2) going on a P3DX - I experienced the
same problems as were reported here, changed to the suggested 2.1-patches
and could connect playerjoy as test-client just fine... Except for the
beeping; the robot starts to beep quite annoyingly after a couple seconds
and then keeps beeping (roughly once per s), as long as no command is send
through playerjoy. Since I haven't used any version of Player after 1.6.4
until now, I am not sure if that is bug or some "no data being sent alert"
feature.

Any hint on that?
