You may need to patch the driver to add support. In general player works at a higher level of interface than raw encoders, so would report this information using something like position2d. If you wish to report raw encoder values I would recommend something like the AIO interface.

Hi,
I'm reading ERA Robot User's Manual. It says that ERA has a Encoder Packet:
Type                     Value
byte                     Header 0x90.
3 byte integer     Left wheel encoder value.
3 byte integer     Right wheel encoder value.
Reading the code of erratic driver of player 2.1.2 I've noticed that it
doesn't work wit encoder packet. Why?
Can Player 2.1.2 work whit encoders? How?What struct does Player use for
encoders?
