Let us know if there are things we can do to the source tree/layout to make packaging simpler especially for the player 3.0/trunk/cmake version, but I am more than happy to put out a bug fix release of 2.1 so we can package it up.

I am the current maintainer in Debian of these packages, which get
picked up by Ubuntu occasionally and put into universe.  You'll be
pleased to hear that I've started work on packaging Player and Stage
again.  From a packaging perspective, there are a few hassles related
to libraries that I need to work out but there should be some new
Debian packages within the month.   I haven't looked at packaging
Stage 3.0 yet - would it be useful to package them separately?
