Plugins item #1073528, was opened at 2004-11-26 12:02 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=390395&aid=1073528&group_id=235 Category: None Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Submitted By: Evan Barter (evandb) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: iChatStatus "port" Initial Comment: And by "port" I actually mean "blatant rip", but I digress. For those of you who don't know what iChatStatus is there are brief explinations at: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10115 and http://www.download.com/iChatStatus/3000-2146_4-10264544.html Basically, what it does is it is grab the name of the current song playing in iTunes and sets it as your Available Message (or "iChat status" as they've branded it). I figured since Gaim is the only other client that can see these Available Messages (or is that questionable?) someone should whip up something to stick it to our Mac'ers. Now, to be entirely honest with you, I am not a programmer, hence why I'm posting here to see if anyone else wants a crack. But the way I see it, all it has to do is poll Winamp (I am, of course, a Windows user) or XMMS on an interval and update the Available Message if it's different to the current one. Doesn't seem too hard, especially considering that the Winamp API seems well documented. I guess the other (slightly easier) solution would be to have your player export the currently playing song to a text file (which there are undoubtedly hundreds of plugins to do) and then have the Gaim plugin read the file and do as above. *shrug* As I said, not a programmer. Anyway. That's my idea. Anyone up for it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=390395&aid=1073528&group_id=235 |

I have tested different settings within the perl plugin and found out that it is something to do with the path to the Chatbot.txt I think that the script does not like the spaces in tha path to the file. Using it how you suggested seems to always result in a crash. However if I change the path from: my $myScript = "$ENV{HOME}/.gaim/plugins/chatbot.txt"; to my $myScript = "C:/Chatbot.txt"; and placing the .txt in the root it works fine. I think its to do with spaces in the "/Documents and Settings/" folder. Could these be escaped in your script? Useful for saying good night or that you're running out for a bit, but you have to sign off so you can't set an away message. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Kawauso-kun (kawauso) Date: 2004-11-13 11:46 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1029839 Fixed for 1.0.2. Turns out there's a new data argument for commands callback. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kawauso-kun (kawauso) Date: 2004-11-04 17:12 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1029839 I meant 1.0.2... that's the problem with working in the field of quantum mechanics... you get ahead of yourself. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kawauso-kun (kawauso) Date: 2004-11-04 16:53 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1029839 Broken by API change in 1.0.4. Fix this weekend if I don't have homework. Wait for it... wait... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Spam3234 (spam3234) Date: 2004-07-30 16:34 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1027350 maybe that can be something they'll establish in v0.81 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kawauso-kun (kawauso) Date: 2004-07-30 15:42 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1029839 Well, account, no. Gaim doesn't do much differentiation of what account "owns" a conversation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kawauso-kun (kawauso) Date: 2004-07-30 15:41 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1029839 It already does that, use it from the Plugin Actions list. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Spam3234 (spam3234) Date: 2004-07-30 14:30 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1027350 could you customize it, so you can either select the account, or select whether it is in IM's or Chat's? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kawauso-kun (kawauso) Date: 2004-07-30 11:45 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1029839 I'll take a look at the code and see what I can do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Peter Loveman (ploveman) Date: 2004-07-30 08:53 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=679986 It would be great if you could add the ability to broadcast to a buddy group. I have seen this in some other IM clients and I think this would be a great addition to gaim. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Spam3234 (spam3234) Date: 2004-07-01 10:02 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1027350 oh, it's a new feature in 79, i didn't notice it thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kawauso-kun (kawauso) Date: 2004-07-01 08:32 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1029839 Tools-Preferences-Conversations-First option (Enable slash commands.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Spam3234 (spam3234) Date: 2004-07-01 01:23 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1027350 how do you enable slash commands? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kawauso-kun (kawauso) Date: 2004-06-30 19:31 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1029839 Source for v0.2 uploaded. You can now, if you have slash commands enabled, type /broadcast Your message here. to broadcast a messge to all open IM and Chat conversations. Works fine with Linux Gaim 0.79. A Windows DLL plugin will be posted as soon as possible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kawauso-kun (kawauso) Date: 2004-06-29 21:01 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1029839 Just a note that I didn't notice beforehand... if you have more than a handful of conversations open, you may exceed your AIM rate limit. Use at your own risk. Also, this plugin has only been tested with the AIM and IRC protocols. Obtain a backtrace (http://gaim.sourceforge.net/gdb.php) before emailing me for support. Avoid posting backtraces in the comments, please. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Mini_Rabbi (minirabbi) Date: 2004-06-29 20:41 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1053895 the broadcast i think worked, but gaim crashes 5 seconds later. i am using 0.79. any suggestions? what other information do you need? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kawauso-kun (kawauso) Date: 2004-06-29 12:29 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1029839 Special thanks to Nosnilmot for WinGaim DLL compilation of v0.11. It is likely that your plugin will crash in the new gaim. As per our standard policy, we are only including plugins that we write, being unable to maintain hundreds of plugins as we develop gaim, if you want to continue making your plugin available, please update your plugin and reopen it. If not updated, this will close in 14 days. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kawauso-kun (kawauso) Date: 2004-06-25 02:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1029839 v0.11 works fine with 0.79. ooh, i rhymed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Kawauso-kun (kawauso) Date: 2004-06-19 13:49 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1029839 v0.11 adds two option buttons so you can select to send to chats or IMs, or both. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=390395&aid=975779&group_id=235 |
