I'm an end-user who was persuaded into posting my suggestions to this
list. Here goes...
My Gripes with Account Management:
*list of accounts in one window and then account settings in another
*The "Online" checkmark just plain stinks :)
*The "Auto-login" is duplicated in the "Modify Account" dialog.
*I think the protocol icon should go in the protocol column and maybe
replace the spelled-out name of the protocol
*the "Modify Account" window changes sizes [+]
I have a mock-up here: http://webcitadel.com/temp/gaim.jpg
It's not the greatest but I think it would work
The "Advanced" tab is where protocol server info and proxy info can go.
The "Special" tab is where things such as "Confirm Account" and "Change
Password" can go.
Other ideas that came up in #gaim:
a personal information panel at the top of the buddy list (like iChat
and Yahoo! and MSN) where Display Name (MSN) or Alias is displayed,
where current status can be chosen and where your current buddy icon is
displayed. Each of these can be changed from here too. Settings per
account could be set elswhere (a "Personal Information" dialog?)
A drawer on the buddy list to hold accounts but drawers aren't GTK-native.
Well, that's all. Sorry if I seem brash or pushy but I just had some
ideas I wanted to share.
