I found some time this evening to sort through the sounds I've been
sent. The new ones are at http://gaim.sf.net/sounds (same place as
the old ones). There are a few people I wrote back because I didn't
get the theme. If your theme isn't on there, and I didn't write you
back, drop me an e-mail.
The ones I didn't get will trickle in in a day or two (two of them
were sent to me while I was putting them all on the webpage), and then
we should start thinking about making a decision.

All the themes are in now. Start listening. Some things that are obvious:
-You hear the sounds *a lot*, they really can't be obnoxious (Sorry,
-Also, they can't be spoken text for localization reasons (Sorry, Ervin)
-The sounds should have a consistent feel to them
-They should sound good; because of the fact that they'll be heard a lot.
Also, some things I learned from the contest:
1) Specify the format to have sounds sent as or you wind up sorting
through tarballs, bz2balls, and zips, trying to guess what each sound
2) Specify a unique string for people to include in the subject, or
you wind up searching through every e-mail you've received with the
word "sound" in it.
3) Apparently my university doesn't let me receive .zip files. Who knew?
4) Make it clear that you're looking for original sounds, or else
you'll get a wide assortment of copyrighted sounds
5) Corrolary to 4: People Love Star Trek Sounds.

If you have surround sound, and a good subwoofer, the xemoka2 set is
really really cool. For the general default, the brad-*'s are my

The sounds I thought were worth considering where (in order of preference):
I'm partial to the brad* sounds, but I worked with Brad on them. I've
been using them for weeks and I quite like them.
+1 for Brad's sounds - however, don't think this is the kind of decision
that is best determined by voting. I think they key developers should
take into account general feedback and make the call.
